UNDP in action: Sustainable Energy for All

23 Sep 2014

In September 2011, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon launched the Sustainable Energy for All initiative and shared his vision for how governments, business and civil society, working in partnership, can make sustainable energy for all a reality by 2030.

Today, more than one out of two Africans do not have access to modern energy. This number rises to nine out of ten in rural regions.

To address this issue, UNDP is working with a wide range of partners on the African continent to boost access to sustainable energy, improve energy efficiency and tap into renewables. This infographic presents a snapshot of the issues involved and UNDP's work.
