Letter of condolences from the United Nations Development Group on the passing of Nelson Mandela
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, whilst gathered in Johannesburg for a meeting of UN Regional Director’s Team for Eastern and Southern Africa (UNDG-ESA).
Mr. Mandela was an exceptional man who inspired millions of people with his humility, courage, and lifelong fight for freedom. He embodied the best of the human spirit and showed everyone the true meaning of reconciliation.
His legacy will live on and will inspire generations to come.
We, the UN Regional Director’s Team for Eastern and Southern Africa region extend our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Mandela and the people of South Africa.
May he rest in eternal peace.
